Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – September 21, 2014

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and spiritual song of the Veritas worship gathering on September 21, 2014

Application IN | A Movement of Grace

Our liturgy, meaning our songs and prayers and what we do together, walks us through the story of the Gospel.  So, God is holy, We are sinners, Jesus saves us, and Jesus sends us, and in remembering the gospel together as a community, as a family, we again experience God’s grace and his presence as He works in and restores our lives.

Song: “Take”

:::ADORATION:::

Life has a way of warping our view of God’s glory, his work in our life, who God is, what he’s promised to us. So our gatherings serve as a rhythm where we rehearse the story of God, revealing his glory to the world he created.  We are reminded of who God is, his greatness, his glory, his love for his people and we have the chance to again experience the grace and presence of God as we respond to His glory through song and prayer.

L: All glorious God, we give you thanks: in your Son, Jesus Christ, you have given us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.

C: You chose us, before the world was made, to be your holy people, without fault in your sight. You adopted us as your children in Christ. You have set us free by his blood; you have forgiven our sins.

L: When we were strangers and hated you, in your goodness, you sought us out.

C: By Your Spirit, You have bound our wandering hearts to You, our true source of joy. All praise and glory be yours, O God, for the richness of your grace, for the splendor of your gifts, for the wonder of your love.

—based on Ephesians 1:3-18

Song: “Everything is Yours”

:::CONFESSION/ASSURANCE:::

L: Lord, Jesus, help us to believe with our whole lives that apart from You we can do nothing.

C: We struggle with fear and anxiety when trials come. We battle sin and unbelief and often give in to temptation.

L: Renew our hearts and minds. Show us daily that we can bring everything to You.

C: In our confession of sins, remind us of your grace and mercy.

L: Help us to believe in the truth of your work on our behalf; your death and sacrifice on the cross for our sins, giving us life and righteousness.

C: Cause us to believe in you and help us to live lives that are dependent upon You, knowing that we find our hope and satisfaction only in You. Amen.

– Based on a prayer from Sojourn Church.

Song: “I Shall Not Want

:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::

:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::

Our Sermon was from Nick Nye on Application IN | A Movement of Grace

:::COMMUNION:::

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Empty Me Out

Song: “Hallelujah What A Savior

:::COMMITMENT:::

L: Father, keep us from looking to the world around us to determine how we should live our lives. Rather, help us to continually look to Jesus’ life for guidance in living out the mission you have called us to.

C: Give us the faith and courage to live in the radical, joy-producing way Jesus calls us to live. In you, Father, through Christ, we are victorious and freed from death and sin. By your Spirit, may we live in this freedom and proclaim your glory in all we do.

– Based on Hebrews 12

I am so thankful for the freedom that Christ has given us. We are free from our sin and darknessWe have been adopted as beloved sons and daughters into God’s family. The curse of sin has been defeated by Jesus and we get to live in and experience the love of God!

Song: “O Fount Of Love”

:::BENEDICTION:::

May you find rest and comfort in the Glory of God, in His promises to us, and in the Glory of Christ, our Savior. Walk now in that rest, and in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.
