Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – November 23, 2014

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and spiritual song of the Veritas worship gathering on November 23, 2014

This Sunday, we’re beginning a sermon series on prayer called “The Problem of Pain”…We are taking this week to speak about addiction. We’re going to begin our gathering by singing together “How Great Thou Art”.

Song: “How Great Thou Art”

L: Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth! Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!
C: For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the Lord made the heavens.
L: Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength! Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts!

C: Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth!
– Ps 96:1-9

Song: “You Alone – Anthony Evans”

Because of Christ’s work on the cross, his death and resurrection, we have been brought back into communion with our God! Because of Jesus, we can sing out with confidence, “You alone, our Redeemer, you alone, Mighty Healer”. We have peace with our creator, our Father. And that same peace is among us this morning, because the Spirit of God unifies us together in Christ! Lets demonstrate this together as we take a few moments to greet each other.

Our Sermon was from Shane Huey on Application IN | The Problem of Pain

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.
L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Come to Me”

L: For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.
C: But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
– Titus 3:3-7

Song: “I Shall Not Want – Audrey Assad”

Song: “More and More – BJ Putnam & Israel Houghton”

This weekend we had the privilege of baptizing ten people. It was a time of celebration as they made this set in their walk with the Lord.

Song: “In Christ Alone”

Because of Christ’s resurrection, we have the hope and promise of eternal life. As we go, may that truth sink deep into our hearts and may we live in worship of our Risen Savior, to the glory of God the Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.
