Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – November 30th, 2014

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on November 30th, 2014

This Sunday, we’re continuing a sermon series called “The Problem of Pain”…We’re excited to have this time to look at how scripture can help us deal with doubt. We’re going to begin our gathering by singing together “Made Alive”.

Song: “Made Alive – Citizens & Saints”

:::ADORATION:::

L: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Come, behold the works of the LORD, how He has brought desolations on the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; He burns the chariots with fire.
C: “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

—Psalm 46:1-3, 8-1

Song: “Our Great God – Fernando Ortega and Mac Powell”

:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::

Because of Christ’s work on the cross, his death and resurrection, we have been brought back into communion with our God! Because of Jesus, we can sing out with confidence, “In life and death, Lord, Abide with me.”. Our God is with us! We have peace with our creator, our Father. And that same peace is among us this morning, because the Spirit of God unifies us together in Christ! Lets demonstrate this together as we take a few moments to greet each other.

:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::

Our Sermon was from Nick on Application IN | The Problem of Pain

:::COMMUNION:::

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.
L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Entrance – Liz Vice”

:::CONFESSION/ASSURANCE:::

L: Lord, we come to You as sinners overloaded with sorrow and guilt. You have called us to leave every concern to You as our Great Shepherd. Revive our hearts and help us to rest in your promises. God, help us to see that Jesus’ blood is our hope.
C: Forgive us for our unbelief and our half-hearted living. Let the weeds of doubt that grow in our souls be cut at their roots. Abide in us, gracious God, and restore to us the joy of your salvation. In Jesus name, Amen.

Song: “Bless the Lord – Anthony Evans”

:::COMMITMENT:::

L: Christ, our divine Redeemer, Your goodness is plainly seen in our redemption, How you became sin for us, and conquered all of our enemies.
C: Your strength is seen in how you endured the extremes of God’s wrath, and erased our failure to live up to God’s standards. Your love is seen in your resurrection, in your sacred wounds, erasing every fear and every doubt.
L: Now, our King and Conqueror, you’ve ascended to heaven, crowned and enthroned, praying for us, protecting us and providing for us by the power of your Spirit until the time comes for you to receive us there.

C: May we live in faith and repentance as we glorify you in all things. Amen.

:::BENEDICTION:::

May the grace of Christ give us rest in the midst of turmoil, and may the love of God being us peace in times of suffering, and may the power of the Holy Spirit enable us to have hope in the Gospel and to live for the glory of the Almighty God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Peace be with you.
