Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – June 2nd, 2013

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and spiritual song of the Veritas worship gathering on June 2nd, 2013.

Below are the songs and liturgy readings from our gathering. We pray that this would encourage you and point you to the gospel as we continue in worship as a scattered community on mission.

Song: “Made Alive” by Matt Ledford and Casey Roberts

Reading: Call to Worship

L: The love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us;
C: We dwell in Him and He in us.
L: Give thanks to the Lord and call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples. Sing to him, sing praises to him,and speak of all his marvelous works.
C: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God almighty, who was and is and is to come!
—based on Psalm 105:1-2; Romans 5:5; Revelation 4:8

We are not here to be entertained but instead we have gathered as the people of God and we are here to remember and to experience the life changing Gospel of Jesus!

Song: “Holy, Holy, Holy” by Reginald Heber

Song: “Great is Thy Faithfulness” by Thomas Obediah Chisholm and William Marion Runyan

Reading: Confession/Assurance

L: Great and Mighty God, it’s a good thing for us to be humbled by Your greatness. We are nothing when compared to You. Though we are weak and overwhelmed by our sins, Your grace enables us to become more like You.
C: In our sin and failure, have mercy on us, O God.
L: May we remember the Mighty One, Jesus Christ, who stands between us and makes a way for us to be redeemed. His blood is our peace, His righteousness our strength, His condemnation our freedom, His Spirit our power, His Kingdom our heritage.
C: Lord, let us know Your grace, feeling it’s strength.
L: By Your grace, subdue our evil natures and support us in life’s trials. May our days be framed by character that You have molded, and not by anxiety, hurry, and the pressure of life’s circumstances. May we live with a clean conscience and continual hunger for Your righteousness.
C: Father, we surrender to Your will and we ask that Your Spirit would strengthen us for Your glory. We pray all these things in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen

Song: “I Surrender All” by Judson W. Van De Venter, Vineyard Music Group, and Winfield Scott Weeden

Passing of the Peace:

“Oh the joy of full salvation! Sin and death defeated, Glory to His name!” In our surrender, we are given the righteousness of Christ! Rather, then us trying to earn our salvation, it is freely given to us as we trust in Jesus, instead of trusting in ourselves! Lets take a few moments to demonstrate the peace and salvation we have in Christ by greeting each other and welcoming each other to this gathering.

Our Sermon this week was from Jeff Beisel from Revelation 2:8-11

Listen to the sermon online here.

Song: “Alas and Did My Savior Bleed” by Isaac Watts

Song: “How He Loves” by John Mark McMillan

Reading: Commitment

Hear what scripture has to say about the love of God for us!

L: We were dead in the trespasses and sins in which we once walked, as we carried out the desires of our bodies and minds, and were by nature children of wrath. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ, raising us up with Him to the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
C: It is by grace we have been saved through faith.
—Based on Ephesians 2:1-8

This is the love of God! He has saved us, he has called us back to himself, he has made us his children, covered in the righteousness of his Son Jesus. Lets sing this out together!

Song: “All Hail The Power of Jesus’ Name” by Oliver Holden, Edward Perronet, and John (adapt) Rippon

Benediction:

Hear this benediction as we go:
All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Go and rejoice in the glory of God! Peace be with you.
-based on Jude 25

L: Peace be with you.
C: And also with you.
