Veritas Gathered: Preparing for Easter – April 5th, 2015

SERMON

This week we are pausing our study of Acts to celebrate Easter! Easter is a time where we come together to celebrate Jesus Christs resurrection! We must remember that we have no merit before God. But God, in His mercy, has chosen to author a faith in our hearts which, when combined with the sacrificial death provided by Jesus, results in salvation. Our saving grace is that we are loved by the Lord and that He has laid down His life for us so we don’t have to. So whether you are a seeker, a skeptic, a sinner or a saint, join us as we explore Christianity’s most powerful claim—The resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter is about Jesus who died but days later rose from the dead. And if he rose from the dead, everything he said should be taken seriously and celebrated.

Be sure to check our Easter section on our website to find service times and locations http://veritascolumbus.com/easter/

LITURGY

L: And you, who were dead in your sin, God made alive together with Christ (speaking of Christ’s resurrection from the dead!), having forgiven us of all our sins, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands.
C: Our sins He set aside, nailing them to the cross.
L: He disarmed the forces of evil and death and put them to shame, triumphing over them by raising Christ Jesus from the dead. In this we have been made alive in Christ and have eternal life! Praise be to our Risen Savior!
Hallelujah! Christ is risen!
C: He is risen indeed! Hallelujah!

—Based on Colossians 2:8-15

MUSIC

Check out this list of some of the songs we will be singing together this week:

  • “O Fount of Love” –  This is a gospel saturated song of praise and thanks speaking about the wonders of God!
  • “You Are Good” –  A song of praise about the goodness of God!
  • “In Christ Alone” – A song that attests to the fact that there is in no other thing but Christ that we can find security and salvation!

Here is a link to a Spotify playlist. Even though our arrangements might be slightly different, listen through these songs and see the great truths that they speak about our God and then come prepared to sing them out loudly and joyfully as a gathered church.
